This Is Our World Too
We all know that humans are affected by landmines, but did you know that animals are as well?
It's obvious when you think about it, isn't it? All over the world in conflict areas where landmines have been laid, innocent wildfire is in constant threat of being maimed or killed. It happens all the time, it is happening right now. The fact is that these animals are completely unaware of what is happening or why and it is impossible to explain or teach them about the threat of landmines.
Over the next few weeks, we will be launching the "This Is Our World Too" campaign, in an effort to raise awareness of the plight of these majestic creatures. We hope that you will help us spread this awareness to all your friends and people that you know. This is the first poster in a series that we will be releasing over the coming weeks.
Facebook them, Tweet the cause, use any social network that you have, print the picture out and carry it with you to show people. But do something, anything, to help us spread the word!

Landmines to be placed on Golf Course
The Mineseeker Foundation in association with Wamar International is turning a championship golf course into a minefield on November 29th.
The Foundation is holding a Golf tournament at Astbury Hall, owned by rock legend KK Downing of the heavy rock band Judas Priest. But the organisers have introduced a whole new set of rules for this golf day. Many of the bunkers and out of bounds areas will be roped off with ‘Do Not enter – Landmines!’ signs and some areas will have electronically detonated areas that will ‘explode’, If golfers are unfortunate enough to find themselves straying into those danger areas.
Mike Kendrick, founder of the Mineseeker Foundation commented, “This is a very good way of bringing an awareness of the terrible landmine problems mankind has inflicted on many parts of the world. There are over 100 million landmines hidden beneath the surface of the earth and they blow up innocent victims every hour of every day - usually mothers and children going about there every day duties of gathering for wood or walking to school.” He added, “We have inflicted this terrible situation on these people and all the money we raise will be used to provide mobility aids and education for landmine victims. Players will be using their golf handicaps to help victims handicapped by landmines, it is a serious subject but it should be a fun day”.
KK Downing, the owner of Astbury hall said, “We are delighted to make out facilities available to the Mineseeker Foundation which I regard as a very good cause. I once made my living using my hands to play a guitar, now I use my legs to enjoy my passion for golf. Hands and legs are lost on a daily basis, particularly in Africa, blown off by landmines. I am so pleased to be able to help and maybe prevent further injury to these innocent people. I cannot imagine the horror of it all”
The Foundation Golf Day
The Mineseeker Foundation golf day hosted at the magnificent Astbury Hall Golf Club was hailed by all those involved as a resounding success. The event raised over £7,500 on the day, as well as much needed publicity for the world’s largest man made humanitarian disaster.
SB Waste Management came away winners and team sponsor, David Poyner thanked all those who had supported the event. “Everyone had a fabulous day in aid of a very worthy cause and we look forward to coming back next year”, he said.
Runners up were Sporting Partnerships Financial Services, led by England rugby legend, Tim Stimpson, with Terry Arnold’s Mace Construction team coming in third.
With the golf course being turned into a minefield for the day as part of the awareness campaign, Oskomera Facades won the Mineseeker Foundation prize for entering the most mined bunkers during their round.
Foundation Chairman, Mike Kendrick, who spoke at the dinner afterwards with great passion, thanked all those who had helped make the day such a success, in particular main sponsors Wamar Industries, and all of the team at Astbury Hall, led by former Judas Priest guitarist KK Downing.
“Minefields are a major blight on the lives and livelihoods of ordinary people in some of the poorest nations on the earth, and we owe it to them to help them back on their feet and put them in a position where they are able to support themselves” , he commented.
More information on the Mineseeker Foundation can be found on their web-site, www.mineseeker.org, and anyone interested in supporting their work can get in touch with them at their offices at Halfpenny Green Airport where Mike Kendrick and his team would be delighted to hear from you.
Mandela - A message from Mike
The time has finally come to say goodbye to our friend and founder patron Nelson Mandela. Our thoughts are with his family and the people of South Africa. Madiba’s legacy will continue to burn brightly around the globe.
We have lost one of the world’s greatest human beings, his courage, inspiration and leadership have set the bar so high it is doubtful that any human being will ever match what he achieved. He not only united a nation but set the example for the rest of the world.
I am personally deeply saddened at the loss. My times with him will remain close to my heart . His quick wit and welcoming smile were special and brought much joy to everyone in hard times. He was a true inspiration to us all.
There was simply no one like him, and I doubt that there will ever be.
Thursday's Child: The Mike Kendrick Story
Our Founder, Mike Kendrick has just published his autobiography and is a well worthwhile read. The foreword is written by his friend, Sir Richard Branson.
"Thursday’s Child is a warts and all tale which places a Black Country lad under the microscope as we discover how he achieved success - including becoming Sir Richard Branson’s business partner for over twenty years! It is a remarkable story of one man’s journey from a poor council house to the dizzy heights of success. If you are not crying at Mike Kendrick’s suffering - you will be laughing at his expense. Kendrick took up the dangerous and unpredictable sport of hot air ballooning – because he was terrified of heights. Placing himself in almost impossible situations, just for the thrill of the ride and to push himself to the extreme and beyond! We experience his often shameful and promiscuous life in club land. His obsession with aviation and his discovery of true love. How fortunes were made and lost and his life hanging in the balance as one crash followed another. Since 2000 Mike has been chief executive of The Mineseeker Foundation. It was the late Princess Diana who first planted the idea of setting up a charitable company that tried to combat the possible 70 million mines in the world that lay undetected."
